
Gary Melow is the Biomass Power Association’s State Projects Coordinator. In this role, Melow promotes the positive work of BPA and works to expand and advance the use of biomass power in the United States. In addition, Melow works with members to formulate grassroots initiatives, increase local outreach and stimulate support for biomass power.
Along with being the BPA’s State Project Coordinator, Melow is the director of Michigan Biomass, an advocacy group that leads government affairs and communication outreach for the state’s wood-fired power industry. He has spoken at a numerous conferences and workshops and is presently chairing efforts through the Michigan Public Service Commission to coalesce biomass energy stakeholders to promote the use of existing biomass energy resources and develop new ones.
Before joining BPA and Michigan Biomass, Melow spent nine years as the director of human relations for a Michigan-based biomass power company. There, he coordinated the company’s community and government relations. Prior to that, Melow spent seven years in communications and training for a leading automotive supplier where he developed sales and marketing materials and coordinated continuous improvement programs and related training. Melow also has ten years of experience in print media and publishing.
